ASTROMAX

The Enforcer AstroMax is specifically designed for astro surfaces or artificial grass and can also be used on normal grass surfaces.

The resistance comes from a 1.3 metre wide, ground engaging, heavy duty, toothed rubber belt with a tractor tread type surface (as opposed to Enforcer Pro Simulator’s usual dual spiked roller system). This acts on the same principal as a caterpillar track. It is ideal for manicured surfaces (either synthetic or natural) with pop up sprinkler and irrigation systems as damage to the playing surface is non-existent.

The braking pressure on the AstroMax is applied by rotating a hand wheel, in a clock wise direction, to increase resistance hydraulically. There is a pressure gauge that also indicates braking resistance. The gauge allows you to keep a record of the scrum progress throughout the year.

The weight of the AstroMax is 750kg and is 204cm wide x 260cm long x 95cm high.

The AstroMax headrest is width adjustable with a manual pressure measuring compression headboard. The headboard is a standard feature on this particular machine.

The upgraded headrest, with the open pad design and width adjustment, is a safety feature to cater for all shapes and sizes in the front row.

In consultation with Andrew Blades (former Wallabies’ scrum coach) and Laurie Fisher (former Brumbies’ scrum coach), new binding pads have been developed to accommodate for the 2013 changes to scrummaging laws. This new system is length adjustable to cater for loose and tight head binding techniques. These pads are a standard feature on the current AstroMax models and can easily be retro fitted to all existing AstroMax machines.

All Enforcer machines are powder coated twice, once with anti-rust powder and the second coat is for the tone and durability. Machines can be painted in any colour upon request.

PRO SIMULATOR

The Enforcer Pro Simulator replicates a live scrum more realistically than any other production machine on the market and is suitable for all levels of rugby from your elite through to your juniors.

Designed in consultation with former Wallabies’ Head Coach, Ewen McKenzie, the Enforcer Pro Simulator is the premium model of Enforcer’s elite rugby scrummaging machines.

The Pro Simulator is the machine of choice for elite sides all around the world.  The Wallabies, along with all of the Australian Super Rugby provinces, are currently using the Enforcer Pro Simulator and have been, in some cases, for more than ten years.

Enforcer is constantly getting feedback and ideas from the head and scrum coaches of the above mentioned. The Pro Simulator machine is continually evolving to accommodate the new scrummaging laws. We have been at the forefront of world scrummaging since 1998.

Key features of the current model include:

Spring loaded canisters to absorb pressure and shock whilst at the same time measuring engagement and constant pressure.

The Pro Simulator is the original and only sled type scrummaging machine, in the market place, with a patented twin brake roller system.

The twin spiked roller and mechanical brake system offers enough resistance to stall even the strongest of scrums. The damage to the playing surface, using this system, is virtually non-existent. The idea behind the twin brake roller system is so the scrum coach can ‘assist’ and ‘resist’ the wheel and this can be controlled and adjusted in seconds, by the operator from his seat, via the two independent handbrake levers. It also enables the outside roller to rotate faster than the inside roller in a wheeling situation. This simulates a motor car differential concept.

By applying 70% of the braking pressure, using the levers, it will bring the most elite scrum to a standstill. The notion behind having the dual brake rolling system at the rear of the machine is so if the front row is not exerting energy through the machine, for example, if the energy is driving up rather than through, the machine will tip up, and the rear rollers will not disengage. This system teaches the front row to use the correct muscles, to direct energy straight ahead, not up and down. So, in effect, if the front row is not scrummaging or exerting their energy in the right direction, the machine will misbehave and the fault can be pin pointed.

The Pro Simulator model machine has a total weight of 540kg. This makes the machine extremely responsive to bad scrummaging techniques. We have discovered that machines heavier do not indicate where the scrum’s energy is going. Heavy twin and tri roller type machines are a dead weight. A top level scrum is capable of exerting 1500kgs of engagement pressure and up to 900kg/8826n of constant pressure. The theory used to be that you needed a 1500kg machine to provide enough resistance. This is not the case. The Enforcer Pro, with a combined weight of 540kg/5296n, is capable of offering up to 2500kg/24,517n of resistance.

The Pro Simulator machine, in consultation with Andrew Blades (former Wallabies’ scrum coach) and Laurie Fisher (former Brumbies’ scrum coach), have devised new binding pads to accommodate for the 2013 changes to scrummaging laws. This system is adjustable to cater for loose and tight head binding techniques. This will be a standard feature on all current Pro Simulators, AstroMax and Heavy Duty Sled models. These can also be retro fitted to all existing Enforcer Pro Simulators, AstroMax and Heavy Duty Sled machines.

Easy to move, transport and store.

The Pro Simulator features a hydraulic raising and lowering transport wheel system that is easily engaged and disengaged.

Enforcer developed the hydraulic transport wheel system for a number of reasons.

Firstly, for ease when manoeuvring the machine on and off the field during training. One person can easily move the machine around the oval and in and out of storage. The four wheels are engaged, using a hydraulic power pack and ram system, which raises the machine evenly up to a height of 150mm.

Secondly, the machine can be used on the field to simulate a live scrum situation. It can be wheeled around the playing oval with ease, lowered into position and different moves can be practised. The greater flexibility and manoeuvrability on the field enables both forwards and backs to train together at different positions on the paddock. During a scrum session in wet conditions, the players’ boots will churn up the playing surface. The wheels can be engaged to move the machine 5 metres before it’s lowered and the scrum can repack on a fresh surface. This means they are not churning up the ground in the one area. This will keep the ground maintenance staff onside!

The transport wheels have a tread width of approximately 150mm which prevents the machine from sinking even in the wettest conditions.

Weighing 540kg and measuring 204 cm wide x 237 cm long x 95cm high, the Pro Simulator is incredibly compact and more versatile than any comparable machine on the market. It is easily transported or flat packed for export.

All Enforcer machines are powder coated twice, once with anti-rust powder and the second coat is for the tone and durability. Machines can be painted in any colour upon request.

Safety

Enforcer is aware of the potential dangers of live scrummaging and so we are continually in consultation with coaching staff, players and physicians.

The key safety points about the machine are:

Upgraded Headrest- the adjustable width and increased pad depth reduces the likelihood of neck and shoulder injury.

Open pad design- we believe this is the safest design on the market as it allows the front row to pull out of the engagement situation if they feel they are not packing correctly. Enforcer pads have a total length of 600mm. The bottom of the pad sits approximately 250mm above the ground. There is no danger of the front row slipping under the pads. The pads are fully width adjustable which makes them ideal for juniors’ right through to senior players.

Protective metal cover- this is encased over the rear spiked brake roller system and goes all the way to the ground, so that nothing foreign ends up tangled in the spiked roller system.

Scrum coach’s seat- during the scrummaging sessions the coach is securely positioned within the machine.

Options:

  1. Width adjustable spring loaded headrest and manual pressure measuring gauges.
  2. Width adjustable headrest with pressure measuring digital read out.
  3. Width adjustable non compression headrest

TSUNAMI

The Enforcer Tsunami is built on the Heavy Duty Sled system with a water ballast tank that holds up to 800 litres of water (800kg).

The idea behind the water ballast tank is to give weight and resistance to the scrum pack. Upon engagement the water rushes towards the pack and then splashes away to the back of the tank, which pulls the machine away from the players. This causes the scrum to have to chase their feet.

The water volume can be varied to suit the strength and ability of the pack. Alternatively, the transport wheel system can be partially engaged to reduce resistance against the playing surface which caters for a less dominant scrum. This prevents having to drain water from the ballast tank.

The Tsunami model comes with an adjustable pressure measuring compression headboard only.

It is also fitted with our newly developed binding pads which were designed in consultation with Andrew Blades and Laurie Fisher.

All Enforcer machines are powder coated twice, once with anti-rust and the second coat is for the tone and durability. Machines can be painted in any colour upon request.

HEAVY DUTY SLED

The Heavy Duty Sled has the same headrest as the Pro Simulator and AstroMax machines – width adjustable, manual pressure measuring compression. It is also fitted with our newly developed binding pads which were designed in consultation with Andrew Blades and Laurie Fisher.

The Heavy Duty Sled weighs 400kg and is 204cm wide x 214cm long x 93cm high. It is similar in weight to the Pro Simulator model (540kg) but may need some weight added for extra resistance. This machine is also ideal for manicured and artificial playing surfaces.

All Enforcer machines are powder coated twice, once with anti-rust and the second coat is for the tone and durability. Machines can be painted in any colour upon request.

Key features of the current model include:

The Heavy Duty Sled is supplied with the width adjustable pressure measuring headboard only.

This is a heavier system than the Enforcer Lite. It’s ideal for Club and School boy level.

The Heavy Duty Sled has a 12mm checker plate floor.

The checker plates cross hatched pattern faces down and gives increased resistance even on the wettest surfaces. This is a unique feature of the Enforcer machines.

It does not have the mechanical brake and roller system.

Heavy Duty Sleds are fitted with our newly designed binding pads. All existing Heavy Duty Sled can also be retro fitted with these new pads.

Story

The Enforcer Heavy Duty Sled was specifically developed for the Wallabies’ training facilities. At the time, the playing surface was not well established and there were concerns about the spikes uprooting the new turf. The Wallabies’ ended up using both the Heavy Duty Sled and the Pro Simulator on the new turf with no visible damage.

LITE RANGE

The Enforcer Lite is a lighter scrum sled version of the Heavy Duty model and is a cost-effective option for schools and clubs.

Two of the three Lite models have the same hydraulic transport wheel system as the Pro Simulator and Heavy Duty Sled and operate as a basic sled with counterweights for ease of mobility and manoeuvrability. It does not have the mechanical brake and roller system but the machine is durable and manufactured from 50mm SHS with a 3mm wall thickness. This gives it more weight than its competitors without the extra bulk.

This model also features a 3mm checker plate floor.

It has the same dimensions as the Heavy Duty Sled, 204cm wide x 214cm long x 93cm high, however, it is only half the weight at 200kg.

The hydraulic transport wheel system is capable of lifting an extra 750kgs which is over and above the existing weight of the machine.

All Enforcer machines are powder coated twice, once with anti-rust and the second coat is for the tone and durability. Machines can be painted in any colour upon request.

Models

Enforcer Lite comes in three different models.

  1. Enforcer Lite width adjustable, non-compression with hydraulic transport wheel system.
  2. Enforcer Lite non width adjustable with hydraulic transport wheel system.
  3. Enforcer Lite non Width adjustable with no hydraulic transport wheel system.

4×4

The Enforcer 4×4 is an alternative to our sled machines; effective, affordable and convenient.

This machine is a versatile low cost unit. It is designed to slip into a ‘Hayman Reece’ type tow bar on any vehicle. It relies on the motor vehicle’s hand or foot pedal brake to provide resistance.

The Enforcer 4×4 is height adjustable. This is essential so that it is compatible with different tow bar heights.

It is easily removed from the tow bar and placed into the back of the utility for transportation. Ideal for clubs with minimum storage facilities and for export as the modular system means it can break down into smaller cubic meters. Consequently, freight costs are reduced.

All Enforcer machines are powder coated twice, once with anti-rust and the second coat is for the tone and durability. Machines can be painted in any colour upon request.
